2022 9/11 Memorial & Museum 5K

What a beautiful day honoring all the first responders and remembering all those who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001. After a two year hiatus due to the pandemic, it was great to be back in lower Manhattan to participate in The National September 11 Memorial & Museum 5K!

2021 NYC Marathon

Our President & CEO, Jonathan Sheppard, had to withdraw from the NYC Marathon due to an injury, but we were still able to support New York Cares and all the great work they do by raising over $6,000. New York Cares manages volunteer initiatives throughout NYC and during the pandemic they have been especially effective in providing meals and technology to school age kids.

2021 New York Cares Day of Service

The DayBreak Community joined up with New York Cares & The Bronx is blooming for a day of service, doing some good by helping to beautify Soundview Park in the Bronx. We helped remove invasive species so that native plants can be reintroduced to help the environment. A fun day getting our hands dirty while also learning about the local environment, the threats it is facing, and what we can do to help!

Charities We Support

At Goodwill NYNJ, they believe everyone deserves the chance to build a better life for themselves, their family, and their community. With our 57 programs across 30 sites in New York City, northern New Jersey, and the surrounding area, we work each day to make it possible for more than 45,000 people every year to do just that. The programs empower individuals with disabilities, underemployed and unemployed individuals, veterans, seniors, immigrants and refugees, at-risk youth, low-income families, and anyone who may have a barrier to employment. The Goodwill Stores keep over 100 million pounds of usable goods out of landfills each year, reselling donated items to support our programs. DONATE HERE!

New York Cares was founded by a group of friends who wanted to take action against serious social issues that faced our city in the late 1980s. Finding few options to help, they created their own organization to address the problems from the ground up. New York Cares is now the city’s largest volunteer management organization, running volunteer programs for 1,300 nonprofits, city agencies, and public schools. Today’s volunteers share our founders’ vision that we all have a role to play in making our city a better place. DONATE HERE!

New York Cares Day of Service 2019

This past September we made a trip to the Andrew Freedman Home in the Bronx to work on a Community Revitalization Project. The DayBreak Team worked hand in hand with a few clients, planting a new garden & clearing shrubs to help beautify a local neighborhood. This work will help ensure a welcoming environment for years to come at this historic building and artistic hub for cultural events and community service. We partnered with New York Cares & The Bronx is Blooming for this outstanding day of service.

New York Cares provides participating schools with volunteer teams, supplies, and overall support for the day. New York Cares Day of Service 2018

In July of 2018, we headed to Padre Plaza Success Garden, in the Mott Haven section of The Bronx to help revitalize a local garden so that it can continue to be used for community events. Our entire office was there pitching in, in addition to a few clients! We partnered with New York Cares for this wonderful day of service.

National September 11th Memorial Run/Walk 2018

What a fantastic morning we had walking in the 9/11 Memorial & Museum Run/Walk on April 22nd! We were so fortunate to be a Community Sponsor of the event and to be surrounded by amazing New Yorker’s. What is so great about this event, 100% of all money raised goes directly to the 9/11 Memorial & Museum to sustain the beautiful memorial & reflection pools. The DayBreak Community representing!
