It’s officially that time of year again where you may be thinking about the resolutions and goals you want to accomplish in the upcoming year. 2024 is just a few weeks away, and there’s no reason you can’t start working towards your goals today. Perhaps you’ve had resolutions in the past that for one reason or another have not come to fruition. We’ve all been there.

However, there’s no time like the present and now is the best time to put your best foot forward. We can’t change the past, but we do have a say in our actions and efforts moving forward. There are ways we can train our minds to be sharper and more focused so that we can accomplish the goals that we set for ourselves. So why not give them a shot for our 2024 resolutions?

  1. Create a mental checklist in the morning. Don’t grab your phone the second you open your eyes in the morning, as this sets the tone for a day with distractions. Instead try to visualize a few things in your personal and professional life that you would like to accomplish today. Now that you’ve set your intention, get after it!
  2. Take a lunch break. This means closing the laptop. Stop scanning through your work emails and just take the time to eat and be present. Taking a real break can leave you feeling refreshed and reinvigorated to accomplish more.
  3. Read fiction before going to bed. This can transport your mind to different worlds, providing a welcome escape from the stresses of the day. This mental departure promotes relaxation and enhances creativity. The result: a more restful sleep, leaving you in a better position to continue working towards your goals tomorrow.
